Microsoft has updated its Bing search engine to include much deeper Facebook integration.
The integration is currently rolling out and will bring improved search results with a personalised experience thanks to Facebook. Bing now shares what your Facebook friends have liked straight in the search results.
Microsoft has also tweaked the way the new social features work:
“Assuming you have selected to share information with your friends inside Facebook, you will show up in profile searches in Bing, even if you have selected not to have profile information show up in public search engines. This is similar behavior to the way Facebook works. It’s important to note that you will not show up in web searches on major search engines including Bing, just in Facebook Profile Searches within Bing conducted by your friends or friends of friends.”
Microsoft has made it easy for users to disable the features by simply opting out of the Facebook application (here). Searching for products or people will now show results from Facebook and friends likes and recommendations.
