WinRumors celebrates its first birthday this week.
I launched WinRumors to the public on Sunday October 24 stating that “I hope the blog will be informative, up-to-date with Microsoft news and rumors, and prove helpful to debunk some of the crazy and not so crazy Microsoft rumors.” A year later and the site has grown into a hub of Microsoft related activity alongside an impressive and loyal readership. WinRumors now averages nearly 4 million monthly page views across the world with regular engagement and commentary on the latest Microsoft rumors and news.
The site has seen some changes over the year too. A tablet version of WinRumors, named Metro, saw its public outing on August 31 and a Metro desktop version launched shortly afterward. We have also done a lot of work to address the load time of WinRumors, putting content at the forefront of the experience. There’s also a WinRumors Windows Phone 7 app and a mobile web version for all your browsing needs.
It has been a fun and eventful year and I have been left surprised at the growth of the site and the amazing, insightful and diverse amount of readers across the world. Over the next year I have plans to bring on additional writers and grow the site in new ways to ensure everything Microsoft is covered as soon as it breaks and in great detail. It has been a tough year doing it largely alone but it’s rewarding to read the feedback through the contact form or the hundreds of comments on articles every week. Thank you so much for reading along over the year and here’s to the next.
If you have a few minutes, please take the time to fill out this reader survey to improve WinRumors for the next year.
