Windows Phone app card

Microsoft launched its $25 prepaid app card promotion on Friday.

The software giant is handing out $25 prepaid Windows Phone cards that provide credit for the Windows Phone Marketplace. Customers in the U.S. can redeem the card by registering with the cell phone number and IMEI from a new Windows Phone 7.5 device. The credit will be applied to Marketplace accounts and will allow new Windows Phone customers to download $25 worth of apps or games.

The Windows Phone prepaid app card promotion is only available to U.S. customers at present, no word on any international plans. See windowsphoneappcard.com for details on how to claim the card.

You will need your phones original box and sales receipt, the last step requires you to scan those and attach them before submitting the form.

I wish they sold prepaid cards in stores so that I could buy apps without a credit card

      They do MS points.

I’m pretty sure MS points don’t currently work with WP apps but if you know something I don’t then please share :)

My bad, I stand corrected. You cannot.

Very true, although I’ve been requestion MS to look at implementing this over Credit Card based system. And Make the Xbox Live credit region free too, so no matter where you buy it from it can work with your WL id

    Why not in Europe?

Redemption process: make sure your phone number on receipt >> matches with the submission number.   They base off that number.  You only get 1 click, and any errors ommit you from the redemption.

I have been trying to get prepaid cards to use instead of having my account tied to a credit card, the same as I can with iTunes. Microsoft is not making it easy to find this information. They do not sell them in the retail stores and I can’t find them online. A person in one of the stores I visited (Oakbrook, Il) told me they can be purchased in the app store marketplace, and the person in the Mall of America store told me that I could buy them at the AT&T store. My local AT&T store knew nothing about them.

My phone is tied to work, so I can’t purchase apps and apply to my phone bill, and I don’t want the credit card out there. Until then, have to stay with the iPhone.
