By Tom Warren, on 29th Aug 11 9:58 am with 47 Comments

Just days after official press photos leaked, the HTC Omega has showed up online once more.

Real-life images leaked on the weekend that show the device in action on the Orange network. The Omega features a Snapdragon MSM8255 1.5Ghz processor, 512MB of RAM and a 3.8-inch LCD. The HTC Omega also features a 8MP rear camera and forward facing camera. HTC is also expected to introduce a second Windows Phone 7.5 device named HTC Eternity next week. Microsoft is preparing to unveil a number of devices on September 1, based on Windows Phone 7.5. HTC is holding a special event in London to unveil its new devices.

The HTC Omega is likely to be named HTC Radar upon release. The device images (seen below) were revealed on an online auction site in Algeria over the weekend. Monwindowsphone reports that the device is expected to cost around 370 euros and is constructed from aluminium.

It is rare to see such poor body design from HTC !!!!

So yay or nay people in regards to design?

      nay

I’m not a fan of white devices, specially for something like a phone that you’ll handle often and will soon start looking more gray than white.

    • Anonymous

      Decidedly nay.

Does anyone think that perhaps its a portrait slider like the Venue Pro? Theres no other way that HTC’s designers can justify that ugly bulge below the 3 buttons.
Or maybe they’re just trying too hard to differentiate their Windows Phones from their competitors’.

I’ll reserve any judgements until Thursday, but first thoughts are yuck hehe.

The photos probably just aren’t doing it justice, if you could get this body it multiple colors, perhaps it will have some redeeming value. We shall wait and see.

Looks like I’m the only one, but I quite like the look of it from these pictures.  The white and aluminium wrapping look quite sleek to me.  It’ll also feel great in the hand I’ll bet.

I’m curious how the camera and screens are on this device, if they perform admirably It’s going on my list of phones to consider getting.

I doubt it has 1.5 GHz, it has the same score as the Fujitsu IS12T that has 1 GHz in the WPbench, and also if you see it has the old Windows Phone logo, and the HTC Hub doenst show the temperature in the tile just like back in 2010….

Aww that is some yuck design! My Omnia 7 is still unbeaten :)

HTC made some strange design choices here. In fact, they always do.

    this phone has a chin?

    • Gimme a real wp7 set already!

      it has a double chin

  • ragnarock

Ok ok, but… the logo is round while the image that has leaked the logo is square…

Lets call in the experts to figure this. Mr. Warren?

MS changed the Windows Phone logo to a square. Several tech sites covered it and if you post a status on Facebook with WP the WP logo is now a red square instead of a green circle.

This phone could be a prototype built back when the logo was round.

Such a pity MS has decided to surround itself with turn-coat partners. They are doing an excellent job of killing WP7.

  • LX22

    This is an ugly device!

  • Jeanp Belmondo

something’s wrong with these photos – on the 5th picture for example you can see both the top and bottom part of the phone.

(which could be possible if neither plane is vertical, or the bottom part is similar to the G1, but I doubt that)

  • Jinge

For sure it will not to be my next purchase…
Don’t like the design (same old one…) and the antenna is really stupidly located, when you take the phone its like an iPhone4, the signal decrease..
I used to like HTC, but now… I don’t really know what to think about them!

Nice video. Thanks for making it available. The video shows exactly what
differentiates the WP7.5 from it’s competition. Do you mind if I download it,
convert it and post it on Youtube and Facebook?

I wonder what that black phone would be because it looks real nice. I mean. For my taste there is no other phone with such a gorgeous design that I have ever seen.

Boy, the still pictures from last week sure did do this device more justice than the pics above. The previous pics did not show the double chin on the front side or the junk in the trunk rear sided of the device. Althought I am not a fan of white and think the WP7 Manufactures need to bring visually appealing device to the market, THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. I currently have the HTC Trophy & Samsung Focus of which, I thought this device was a different color Trophy, but I was definitely wrong. The trophy looks much better and I too will not be buying and HTC device. It’s a good thing the Trophy is my work device and Samsung my personal. MS need to have some sort of screening of manufacturer proposed devices in the prototype phase so they can prevent them from releasing GARBAGE…….

I don’t like the lighter color they went with… I’ll pass

My guess would be we will not be seeing this phone on the first. Look at the Wp7 logo. It’s circular. This and sea ray are probably prototypes.

I agree…. This is ugly not to mention I hate the stupid HTC skins that they place over the top of every UI regardless of if they need it or not. They may have been a time when it was necessary to hide an outdated OS but WP7 is not that OS. Still patiently waiting to see the wares of Nokia as they surely will be providing my next device.

I’m going to have to go with FUGLY!  Sorry HTC but I’ll stick with black or gray or even a dark blue.  If the screen ISN’T the rumored 4.5″ screen…  I’ll be looking elsewhere for my HD2 replacement.

Double chin? It almost looks as if it could be a slide out qwerty, but we know that is definitely NOT the case. Looks ugly btw. :
