Samsung's Sliding PC 7 Series

Samsung unveiled its Sliding PC 7 Series yesterday at CES and WinRumors got a quick hands on today.

The Sliding PC 7 Series is a Windows 7 Tablet laptop hybrid. It features Intel’s 1.66GHz Z670 Oak Trail processor, 10.1″ touchscreen, 32GB SSD and 2GB of RAM. The tablet weighs just 2.1 pounds. It also includes a USB HDMI ports, a 4-in-1 card reader and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. Samsung says the device will retail in March for $699. Battery life is expected to be around 9 hours according to Samsung.

Samsung will also ship this tablet hybrid with 35 application specially designed for touch. 23 of those were created in partnership with Microsoft. The sliding PC is unique and at a reasonable price point so it will likely be a popular choice for those who want a Tablet device but also need a keyboard too.

Now that is what i’ve been talking about. I like tablets for some utility, but this is functionality & utility at the same time! and a real os to boot :)

How thin is it and how is the weight compared to an iPad ?

Is that a “real” or virtual keyboard?

A lightweight tablet/PC like this that only weighs 8oz more than an iPad at around the same price is probably the single most practical alternative. I expect the PC vendors to sell more hybrid devices like this within 2 years than Apple sells iPads.
