HTC’s mystery Mazaa Windows Phone also includes a 12MP camera.

Eldar Murtazin of mobile-review.com posted a 13 minute long video and several pictures of the HTC Mazaa on Monday. The pictures reveal that the Mazaa will include a 12MP camera, capable of supporting the RAW format. Microsoft has been using the device in Windows Phone Mango demos for Internet Explorer 9. Pocketnow notes that the device resembles a pre-production Trophy.

WinRumors understands that the HTC Mazaa also includes an updated CPU and GPU configuration. The chipset allows HTML5 content on Internet Explorer 9 to run better than current retail Windows Phone 7 devices. The HTC Mazaa is expected to be released on the Sprint network later this year. XDA-developers originally unveiled the HTC Mazaa device in April. The site noted that the device includes a single LED flash and a 3.7″ screen.

Still competing in the megapixel race, are we?

    I’m in love!

It’s a nice device, has everything Mango needs :)

If only it was slated for verizon…

5MP is more than enough for a phone IMHO, but my HD7 5MP camera is inferior to 5MP cameras on other phones I compared it (iPhone and a few Symbian Nokias).

The reason is poor quality censors and lenses used. So rather that simply going into a magapixel race, HTC needs improve the camera components it uses first.

Have you tried the Nokia N8? It’s the best cameraphone to date, and can easily compete with digital cameras (except it of course lacks optical zoom)

Camera maybe good, but OS is complete shit

Why on earth would you click into and read a windows phone article if you obviously don’t like the platform? Seriously get out of here.

He’s saying that the Nokia N8′s OS is terrible, not that WP7 is.

      thank you

    • RedStarDev

A bit defensive about WP7 failure?

What exactly does HTC have against front-facing cameras? How do we use Skype if we don’t have one?

    • http://twitter.com/oolong2 oolong2

Yeah I’m wondering if we’re going to hear about a front facing camera anouncement sometime soon….

Personally I dont’ care about having a front facing camera but a lot of people do so it would be nice to see somewhere in the SDK that this will be supported by the OS.  It would be awesome to see some kind of indication that they are adding kinect features to Windows Phone as well.  Perhaps this will be a WP8/Windows 8 thing….

Its not about the megapixels, HTC! I’m sure the uneducated masses will be impressed, then will be scratching their heads as to why their pictures are still crap!

    • Just Visiting

+1.  And if only HTC could make at least ’an attempt’ to be creative and change the look of their phones.  The boring rehashes are never ending it seems….

Can’t wait til Nokia comes into the picture; I’m sure they’ll influence HTC and lead to a much improved camera in future devices. No more crappy sensors and lenses made out of cheap plastic instead of glass.

Its a nice feature that you can go to camera’s option menu, and still see the image camera is displaying.

    • Anonymous

True, still I’d love the options menu to be redesigned, and approached differently. I don’t really like it as of now (I own a Windows Phone)

Is there a point to HTC constantly putting out ugly bland dark gray plastic phones with painted chrome strips on the edge? God, I can only hope that Nokia has a clue in this regard!

I like the design of this phone.

    • RedStarDev

The good news for you there are about 25 WP7 phones out there that all look just like it,

Looks like the HTC 7 Trophy?

  • Anonymous

No thanks! Nokia is the way to go! A few more months! Patiently waiting

  • Brandon

    Couple of thoughts:
    1) my wife’s (pro photographer) totally going to want this
    2) If they’re allowing 12mp RAW, they better re-think their storage implementation or start shipping these phones with 32gb from the start!

    • zzz

Ef the wife indeed a pro photographer she knows MP means little and it is all about the sensor and if she is going to shoot RAW she will not use a phone to do it.

  • SteveB

12 megapixels may be a good enough gimmick to get at least a couple idiots to buy WP7 phone!

Don’t be a dumb*ss. If you are satified with the device you currently have, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME READING THESE ARTICLES….IT SAYS A LOT ABOUT YOUR PERSONALITY & DEVICE PREFERENCE.
