HTC revealed a mystery September 1 event this week.

The event will take place in London on Thursday September 1, the same day as Microsoft is rumored to unveil its Windows Phone 7.5 “Mango” devices. Pocket-Lint notes that the event could be for two new Android devices that the company is planning. HTC leaves a lot to the imagination in their invite. “Join us to see what’s next” reads a Facebook invite page:

It’s been a while since we last met, so we thought that we’d invite you to come party – and most importantly see what’s next.

There will be the usual food, drinks, music and a few phone treats for you to enjoy.

It would be great to see you. If you’re planning on attending, please RSVP to let us know. Just remember that it’s an event for people over 18 and it’s on a first come, first served basis.

As ever you can always follow the conversation via our Twitter Tag: #HTCQB

Look forward to seeing you there!

Commonly referred to as Windows Phone Mango, its codename, Windows Phone 7.5 was finalized by the software giant in late July. Microsoft is planning to launch a number of Windows Phone 7.5 devices on September 1, according to reports.. The date ties in with IFA, Europe’s largest consumer electronics show in Berlin and should see the unveiling of new devices from Samsung, Acer, ZTE and LG. WinRumors understands that Microsoft will announce several Windows Phone 7.5 devices on September 1 but that the update for existing devices will not be made available immediately. Microsoft is understood to be preparing a rolling update instead of a single “big bang” approach. Windows Phone developers will be able to submit 7.5 applications on August 22 and the software maker will release the Windows Phone Mango RC development tools on that day too. Microsoft will likely wait until its development tools are fully baked and OEMs/carriers sign off on Mango before pushing the update to existing devices.

Microsoft’s Nokia partnership will likely be strengthened by the launch of its first Windows Phone 7.5 device in October. Nokia is understood to be planning a launch party event for its Windows Phone device at Nokia World on October 26. The majority of new Windows Phone 7.5 devices will be made available in time for the important holiday season.

If its a Windows Phone event, I would go.  But if its Android – no thank you!!

True, There are really TOO MUCH android phones already :s it’s nothing special anymore when a new android phone comes out, it’s sometimes just slightly better and with even worse battery life. Windows Phone 7 instead, is taking huge leaps forward and we have some great phones to look forward to!

Either way i have had enough of new phone releases… Release 1 good phone for a year like apple and make everyone happy.

I don’t know.  A new android device comes out every week and Android is well overtaking Apple.  So there must be something okay with releasing a lot of different devices.  I do understand your feelings though, just don’t know if it would be a good business decision for the OEM’s or MS.

That’s why it’s Windows Phone or nothing for me. (Not interested in iPhone nor Android)

I’d be more excited if it was Samsung introducing new WP7 phones.

I’d be ecstatic if it was Nokia introducing new WP7 phones.  I am so over HTC.  ALL their phones are starting to look alike.

Wonder what carriers they be releasing these on.

Since the current Microsoft slogan is ‘Be what’s next’ and the invitation says, ‘see what’s next’, I’d says it’s most likely WP related.

II was just thinking I didn’t like the “see what’s next” slogan because it means we have to take what we get, but can’t have to say anything. I didn’t know about “Be what’s next”, but I like it much more!
Anyway I hope HTC are going to show us great hardware, for Windows Phone! Actually they could do all their mobiles for both WP & Android…… Would be better to have the choice!

HTC also isn’t a dick like Google. So I don’t think they would intentionally host a competing event on the same day.

This also matches Window Phone’s Facebook page and the “What’s Next” section.
