Microsoft revealed on Monday that YouTube and Bing are both coming to the Xbox.

Speaking at Microsoft’s E3 media briefing, Marc Whitten revealed YouTube and Bing are both arriving on Xbox soon. Whitten did not demonstrate Microsoft’s YouTube implementation but spent time highlighting the company’s tight Bing integration. Microsoft unveiled a new Xbox dashboard that includes voice activated Bing search. “You say it, Xbox finds it” said Whitten. “Bing on Xbox searches Netflix, Hulu Plus, our music, video and Xbox LIVE marketplaces and other content providers to find exactly what you’re looking for.”

Bing uses Microsoft’s Kinect sensor to pick-up audio from Kinect owners. Bing on Xbox will initially be available in English in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom. “We’re committed to bring voice search to as many languages and dialects as possible in the future,” said Microsoft’s senior vice president of Bing, Yusuf Mehdi. Microsoft demonstrated the various ways that Bing search will work on Xbox in a brief on-stage demonstration, see below.

Microsoft’s E3 was not anything stellar but it was not a disappointment.
Tom, did they say anything about a browser? is bing just for media and not the web?

Gametrailers interviewed Don Mattrick and asked him if there would be a browser, he said right now Bing is only for searching the console content and marketplaces but that a browser was something they had been thinking about for the future.

Excellent fluidity to The whole Xbox’s new UI. Good to see Microsoft is capable of that almost everywhere

Did anyone notice the new menu, the bing interface all look extremly similar to windows 8 preview? Its really cool to see MS pull these products even closer together. I think this is a good indication that Win 8 is going to rock.

I noticed it, too. Looks like the Metro UI (whch I love!) will permeate throught the Micrsoft ecosystem. Good stuff!

Looks like it’s just media right now but how cool would it be if you were to speak an address or location and have it sent directly to your WP7 device all mapped and ready to go? Maybe list a group of places you need to visit and have Bing map out the most efficient route? Create shopping lists by mentioning products and the items are sent to a list on your device as well. The possibilities are endless.
