Microsoft revealed on Monday that YouTube and Bing are both coming to the Xbox.
Speaking at Microsoft’s E3 media briefing, Marc Whitten revealed YouTube and Bing are both arriving on Xbox soon. Whitten did not demonstrate Microsoft’s YouTube implementation but spent time highlighting the company’s tight Bing integration. Microsoft unveiled a new Xbox dashboard that includes voice activated Bing search. “You say it, Xbox finds it” said Whitten. “Bing on Xbox searches Netflix, Hulu Plus, our music, video and Xbox LIVE marketplaces and other content providers to find exactly what you’re looking for.”
Bing uses Microsoft’s Kinect sensor to pick-up audio from Kinect owners. Bing on Xbox will initially be available in English in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom. “We’re committed to bring voice search to as many languages and dialects as possible in the future,” said Microsoft’s senior vice president of Bing, Yusuf Mehdi. Microsoft demonstrated the various ways that Bing search will work on Xbox in a brief on-stage demonstration, see below.
