Microsoft's BUILD conference
Microsoft is on the eve of the most significant sea of change for the Windows operating system since Windows 95.
The software giant is preparing to tell its developer story at its first BUILD conference in Anaheim, California on Tuesday. Microsoft’s Windows chief, Steven Sinofsky, will take to the stage on Tuesday and fully reveal Windows 8 to the world. Microsoft’s development strategy is the key piece of a largely untold Windows 8 story but the company is eager to breach beyond the basics. BUILD will delve into Windows 8 to unveil the core new features of Microsoft’s next-generation operating system.
Described by Microsoft’s own CEO, Steve Ballmer, as the company’s “riskiest” product bet, Windows 8 has to deliver at BUILD. Microsoft needs to wow developers with its approach and provide a unique way to experience Windows across PCs, laptops, tablets, phones and TVs. The company’s strong product convergence should prove that it is serious about new form factors and technologies. It’s now up to developers to heed Microsoft’s message and embrace the multiple ways that Windows 8 apps will be accessible from across a number of different devices and experiences. Expect to see Windows Phone apps on Windows 8, Xbox LIVE baked in and some surprises along the way. All the signs point to some impressive integration and a real ecosystem for all devices.

Stepping closer towards BUILD
Sinofsky has woken Windows from its recent stupor. His first act was to clean up Vista with a stable, well thought out Windows 7 operating system. His second act builds on Windows 7 and sets Windows 8 up for a future where device types change faster than the weather. Stay tuned to WinRumors over the next few days to see exactly what’s in store.
Welcome Windows 8, we’ve been expecting you.
