Microsoft is preparing a number of new interactive adverts for its Xbox platform.
The software giant has filed a trademark application for adverts that will allow users to interact with them using Kinect. Manan Kakkar spotted Microsoft’s trademark:
Advertising services, namely, promoting and marketing the goods and services of others through online interactive video games by enabling consumers to interact with third-party advertising content through voice or body gestures via computer game console and sensor devices
The description appears to indicate that Natural User Ads (NUAds) will feature voice and body control soon. Microsoft has been experimenting with Xbox adverts in the past few months, ranging from the normal square ads to pop-out experiences. The company recently created an interactive experience to promote Sprint Windows Phone devices (see video below). It’s not immediately clear when Microsoft plans to make the interactive ad slots available to marketers or game publishers. The software maker is planning to release a new Xbox Dashboard user interface later this year. The interface is tiled like Windows Phone and includes slots for advert placements.
