New Microsoft Store opening in Houston on June 23

Microsoft is planning to open its tenth retail store on June 23.

The software giant announced the launch date for its Houson store on Monday. Microsoft’s tenth retail store will be located in the Houston Galleria Mall in Houston, Texas. Following tradition, Apple also has a retail store inside the same mall. The company has teamed up with award-winning, global superstar Kelly Clarkson. The first 100 people who visit the store on Thursday, June 23, will receive two tickets to the Saturday, June 25, Kelly Clarkson performance and one VIP pass to meet Kelly after the show. The next 1,100 customers in line will each receive two tickets to the June 25 performance. Additional general admission tickets will be given out one-per-person while supplies last. Microsoft is also launching its ninth retail store on May 27. Microsoft’s ninth retail store will be located in the Lenox Square Mall in Atlanta, Georgia. Microsoft is also planning a new store in Los Angeles.

Microsoft launched its eighth retail store in California recently. Microsoft also launched its seventh retail store just 15 minutes from the company’s headquarters in Bellevue. The software giant also launched its biggest retail store in the Mall of America in November. The store, which is 8,600 total square feet, is directly opposite an Apple store. Microsoft also has the two stores located in Scottsdale, Arizona and Mission Viejo, California, and a third store in Park Meadows Mall – Lone Tree, Colorado. Microsoft also has stores in San Diego and the recently opened Oakbrook store. Microsoft’s Mall of America store saw long queues as customers scrambled for freebies and the recently launched Kinect for Xbox 360.

Microsoft is also rumored to be launching stores in New York and Orlando later this year too. The Microsoft Stores offer all of the Microsoft products found through online retailers and inside major retail chains, including keyboards and mice, Windows 7, Xbox 360 and many more products. Apple currently has 222 stores in the United States alone, and 287 total stores worldwide, including 27 in the UK and 14 in Canada.

    After Microsoft releases their major stores in select cities of US, they need to start making smaller stores (unless they continue larger ones overseas) to catch up with Apple. They have the money!

     There is this nice rumor about a ad lib slip from a Microsoft executive that pretty much said that Microsoft plan is to only have 100 stores in total. with half or more than half in the USA and the rest around the world. This would hopefully mean that Microsoft plan is to put more emphasis on the online Microsoft Store.  I just don’t care just as either a physical Microsoft Store finds its way to Mexico City or the Online Microsoft Store can be available from here in the case we don’t get a store..

    This article is incorrect. Apple has 325 retail stores, and they did not add 38 in the past few days.
