New unannounced Microsoft Explorer Touch Mouse discovered

Microsoft has a new mouse up its sleeve which has been detailed and photographed at an official company event.

The software giant held a Christmas in July event in London recently and revealed the new Microsoft Explorer Touch Mouse. Gadget bloggers Pocket-Lint were on hand to snap photos and detail the device. The unannounced mouse comes equipped with Microsoft’s BlueTrack technology, allowing it to work on a number of surfaces. The mouse also features five customizable buttons which can also be switched for left and right handed use.

The device appears to be a notebook style mouse with a haptic touch scroll pad similar to the Arc Touch. The mouse vibrates lightly when you use the scroll pad. Pocket-Lint notes that the device is expected to be made available at the end of July in the UK, priced at £69.99.

      But yeah, I don’t know why we haven’t seen it yet.

    Who would honestly want this nonsense over a physical mouse wheel? I certainly don’t! Designers need to stop getting carried away…

      I would.  I hate scrolling with my 5000 with the clicks/line level scrolling.  I prefer pixel level smoothing without all the incremental clicks.

      It’s not that smooth. I wish it were as crisp as it is on osx. With synaptic, sometimes the scrolling is completely broken. I hope windows 8 finally fixes this.
