Orange UK to hand out free Windows Phone apps every day in July

Orange announced on Friday that it plans to give its customers a free app every day in July.

The applications range from games to travel information apps. Orange says it will offer premium pre-paid apps that will be available from the “Orange Selects” folder on the Windows Phone Marketplace. Orange users will be able to download 31 individual apps, worth more than £70.

Neil Holroyd, Senior Multimedia Product Manager, Everything Everywhere, said: “We’ve been working with Microsoft to provide a more enriched app experience for our Windows Phone customers. By offering a selection of the most popular apps for free, we hope to continue to enhance our customers’ smartphone experience by allowing them to try something new.”

It’s not immediately clear which apps will be available but users will only be able to download the free application on the individual day of its promotion. The first free application will be made available today with the rest to follow each day throughout July.

      Vodafone Offer = Buy an Andriod, well thats what I’m getting shoved in my letter box nearly every other day…. HTC Sensation and GSII ???? 

      Some ones going to get a HURT real BAD !!  :(

    Now I’m planning on installing Mango, I won’t be able to take advantage of this :( at least not to be able to keep them when the final release of Mango rolls by. Dilemmaaa.

      Can anyone confirm this? Apps downloaded are recorded in your Zune history and should be eligible for re-download at any time, even in the event of a rollback or full restore. I’m not sure Zune will differentiate between an application you paid for and an app that Orange offers as a free download.

      my understanding is that the “istrial” flag is stlll managed by MS. nobody should lose their app purchase..

    What is the Orange Selects Folder? I have an Orange Omnia 7 but I don’t have any Orange Selects folder! Reckon mine is a dud becasue I also can’t get the Orange Maps to work either.

    Damn. Windows Phone is looking more and more tempting. But I still don’t want to abandon my iPhone 4. If I could install WP7 on my iPhone 4, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

    It’s scandalous !!!! Orange is a French company and they give gifts in UK and nothing in France !!!
