HTC Radar

T-Mobile USA announced on Monday that it plans to stock the HTC Radar 4G on November 2.

T-Mobile is planning to offer the device at $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. The Radar 4G will be available on a two year contract with T-Mobile’s Classic voice and data plan, plus taxes and fees. The HTC Radar is a white Windows Phone 7.5 device featuring a 3.8-inch LCD display, 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and a 5MP rear camera. The Radar also features a front facing camera, supported fully in Windows Phone 7.5 “Mango”. Known previously as the HTC Omega, the Radar is an aluminium device with a snow white look.

WinRumors recently reviewed the HTC Radar and concluded:

“Overall the HTC Radar is the best small sized Windows Phone 7.5 device on the market right now. The improved performance and aesthetics will make it appealing to the masses who aren’t prepared to move to a 4.7-inch display right now. The improved camera will also interest those wanting to use their phone as a point and shoot replacement.

The HTC Radar is very much the new Trophy and the comparisons are evident throughout the device. The moderate specs and look and feel of the device in the silver edition could make it an interesting contender going head to head with Nokia this holiday season.”

      HTC Titan

Nice Phone, but the Display is crap. What about the cam? HTC is well known for bad cams. Is this better now?

    • Anonymous

actually, the Titan was matched against the iPhone and the HTC camera did extremly well.

Of course, like magicmofo stated, the Titan won’t be a $99 phone, so it’s really price vs features… but if it’s one of those “give me something better” cases, the Titan is really nice.

Actually just about every review/preview i’ve seen has sad the display is quite good.  The Titan has the same CPU/GPU as the Radar only clocked higher.  It has a larger screen, more on board storage and a 8mp camera vs. the Radars 5mp.  Titan high end.  Radar mid range.  Niether of them is crap and both are better then any 1st Gen WP7 device currently on the market.

WP7 doesn’t support replaceable SD cards. Hasn’t since day 1.

Huh? You mean like on the Samsung Focus?

    • magicmofo

The best phones aren’t $99. People who can’t afford $300-$500 smartphones can pick this 4g one up and get an amazing phone. I can’t imagine how many more phones Apple would sell if they offered a current Gen lost cost option like WP7 is.

I know that they have the iPhone 4 and 3gs. And that the iPhone 4s has a dual core proc. Incase anyone was gonna throw that into the convo.

@ef96bd7cb57abaafd029ddc2d814dd26:disqus  They do now… the iPhone 4 is 8GB storage and is $99.  Started selling the day of the 4S announcement.  I’m a Trophy user but I’m just making sure the facts are known.

It would be nice if there was any interest in Windows Phone for Verizon Wireless. I almost nabbed the Trophy. Instead I ended up getting an f-ing iPhone 4 as I was tired of waiting for a Samsung Focus variant. As I will never own another Android phone its upsetting that I had to join the dark side and buy Apple. It angers me that there is still only one option and only one option on Verizon until some unspecified time. Everyday I check Winrumors for some hint of Windows Phone ANYTHING. My efforts are rewarded with news that Nokia won’t release in North America until next year, most Windows Phones are launching in Europe first, and T-Mobile and AT&T will be getting dibs first…wonderful.

@dane Don’t believe it.  TMOUS has a long history of carring Nokia phones.  I refuse to believe that TMOUS won’t get a new WP7.5 device from Nokia this year.

Sorry, not the same specs at all.  This phone has a 2nd Gen CPU/GPU, faster memory, better camera, and a FFC.  Get your facts straight.

    • AlienSix

And it is already being discounted big time… not good not good at all

Its not the same specs, powered by Andro 205 GPU and its a lot faster

I requested that Gadget Pr0N on G4′s Attack of the Show review this. So should you. http://www.g4tv.com/attackoftheshow/gadgetpr0n/index.html

  • Disappointed

    double-chin? sorry, but no.

    • AlienSix

Seems like your not alone at not being down with the S Ballmer double chin look.  But seriously it is not good seeing how quickly even Mango is now being offered at fire sale prices.   :(

    • http://profiles.google.com/jdax3041 James Matthews

What fire sale prices?? It’s a mid range phone.  What do you expect it to sell for? Damn I swear, if TMOUS was selling this phone for $199 c/ contract you’d be on here crying about it being over priced.

    • AlienSix

No Mango was suppose to save the day, if they are already offering 33% discounts on the updated OS it tells us that Mango is having little to no impact on the market.     Not good not good at all if you care about the OS only an idiot would not see it.

  • http://profiles.google.com/jdax3041 James Matthews

Very good phone for a very good price.

    • AlienSix

Well they wouldn’t have to discount it so much if that was the case … not good not good at all

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/James-Matthews/100000189923615 James Matthews

T-Mobile has updated the spec page for the Radar on thier site and have removed the amount of storage.  Speculation is that the T-Mobile version of the Radar may very well ship with 16GB instead of 8.  If true then that makes this price even better.

    • AlienSix

Which makes it even more alarming that they have to discount it so much… not good not good at all.
