Nice…  Exactly what I what I was hoping for in a window touch UI.  Now what about stylus, camera, mutliple monitors, and other peripherals?

Just show us what’s behind those blurred squares why don’t ya ;-)

    • Anonymous

i’m glad i wasn’t the only one who noticed that. Ditto on the stylus and camera. That’s the real revolutionary stuff.

The power of the metro touch UI and in a single touch we can get all the power of classic interface? That thing just made my day

The silly thing is in the video his says tiles are better then Icons but there is Icons on the tiles?  MS seems to be confused about their own OS, this does not bode well for it’s future…Vista all over again :(

    • Anonymous

duhh,  you know what an icon is? Like iOS where for the weather you just see the icon of weather that looks like cloud, while this tiles can show the weather and the city , there have static and live tiles, the live tiles, updates information

I dont think MS is confused, you are,

I’m surprised that I have found myself more excited for Windows 8 than I am for Mac OS X Lion. Makes me wonder if Apple has anything up their sleeves for WWDC.

I can envision all the computers in my house running Windows 8 now. Looks good!

  • ss

very cool, but I was hoping they would make the regular windows task bar and window borders look metro too… maybe they still will.

Wow, I’m not a metro fan but that look ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

I’m pretty disappointed this looks a lot like media center. Of all MS’s products I feel media center was a horrible interface. I hope they do a lot more refining. I really hope to see a better cross between the courier and wp7.
Also waiting to see if the pen plays a bigger part in this. That’s really what I want. Where touch, pen and mouse all share an equal stage. Would be sweet.

The way app switching is done totally blows everyone out of the water!

    too cool for school

  • Nicke

Wow, awesome! Like a Windows Phone 7 system…

To everyone asking for pen input… its already there… Microsoft probably wont stop OEMs from adding that functionality… and in the case of that HP flipping tablet thing with the double digitizer, you just upgrade from win7 to win8 and you’re good to go. It already has touch and pen.

So you could theoretically just mess around on the internet and then decide to draw something in photoshop (64bit too!) with the pen.

    Actually, this is awesome.

Nice… finally we’ll have a tablet that doesn’t compromise functionality. Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Photos, etc. — check. Word, Outlook, Photoshop, Premier, Visual Studio, etc. (i.e., real software, not “apps”) — check.

  • Aldo Vellucci

Omg it’s just windows 7 with an Android/Media Center add-in running at the same time.
Unless this OS has better resource management than Windows 7 I doubt I’d ever upgrade to it voluntarily

  • Frylockns86

    HOLY FRAK. :O

Interesting to see that at 3:04 when you load up Excel, it flashes the standard desktop before loading up Excel. It doesn’t do that for other applications, so I guess these Office suite needs an update to “integrate” it with Windows 8?

  • http://twitter.com/alisalem Ali Salem

Looking great! I wonder how it would work on a desktop though.

  • Fotiswp7

I am waiting for the Windows 8 RC in summer, like windows 7.

  • JohnDoe

on a desktop this wont work. do Microsoft expect businesses and sane people to upgrade to this.

    • Anonymous

Exactly it wont work thats why for desktop and laptops you can switch to the classic Desktop Ui with Taskbar,  which the Desktop is also improved in many ways
This is winrumours didnt u see the leaked photos ?

  • TryllZ

Metro UI Metro UI everywhere but not a simgle tablet in production yet, when will I get my hands on ‘em ?, oh I can’t wait, seems like I’ll die if I don’t get 1…

    This is Super awesome
