Windows 8 builds on sale at eBay auction site

Pre-release versions of Windows 8 are being sold on eBay.

Copies of a Milestone 3 Windows 8 build appeared on the popular internet auction site recently. One seller, located in Canada, appears to be offering a recently leaked Milestone 3 version of Windows 8 for $1,500. The seller offers to supply a “real Windows 8 Milestone 3 leaked CD,” although it’s not immediately clear whether the CD is a genuine Microsoft internal copy or simply an unofficial creation. Either way, the auction will likely be pulled once it catches the attention of the software giant.

Microsoft is currently working on pre-beta copies of Windows 8 in preparation for a beta release at the company’s BUILD developer conference in September. Recent reports suggest that the company reached build 8042 on July 7 and is planning to hit build 8100 for the beta stage. The software maker is also rumored to be preparing a pre-release build of Windows 8 at the Worldwide Partner Conference this week. It’s unlikely that the company will issue a build but it will talk more about Windows 8 and possibly share a second “building Windows 8″ video. Microsoft first introduced Windows 8 at the D9 conference in early June. The company made an initial “Building Windows 8 video #1″ available as part of a series of videos that will be released as the BUILD conference draws closer.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer described Windows 8 as “pretty important” during an Imagine Cup 2011 speech on Friday. Ballmer also promised a “stream of things” from Microsoft in the future.

Instead of worrying about Windows 8 Microsoft should be getting W7 Office and Live all working.  Enormous problems to be sorted.  Have a look at Microsoft Answers and other forums.  The whole thing is a disaster.

There will always be problems with software no matter how rock solid developers try to make it. Fact. Look at some of the posts people put up on Mac Rumors. One would get the impression that Mac OS X is a complete disaster from some of things that people have posted.

Yes but I have had Office 2010 and A Windows Live account for over 12 months and there has been continuing sync problems.  They need to get existing software working.  ask the thousands of of people on Microsoft Answers.  If these software companies cant produce software that is bullet proof on local computers we will all have to go to the “cloud”.  Maybe that is what they want. e.g. Goggle, Office 365 and Apple.

I have Office 2010, Office 2011 for Mac and a Windows Live ID that I use to sync to SkyDrive, my Windows desktop and Mac laptop and I haven’t had any problems with syncing. And there’s probably hundreds of thousounds or millions of people who haven’t had a problem either.

He’s probably talking about syncing document edits as opposed to syncing files.

    • Grannyville7989

If you’re right about that then I withdraw my comment :)

Syncing over Skydrive (Windows Live ID)
Well I use Microsoft OneNote on several computers and at my Windows Phone 7 and I only had a few sync problems until now. But since Evernote published its Windows Phone 7 application I’m also testing the Evernote. What I can say Evernote is awfully buggy comparing to Microsoft OneNote.

Probably fake, so he is putting a high price tag on it to create the impression that it is the real deal. Probably wants to fuck people over.

The eBay seller has only received one piece of positive feedback. Suspicious?

I think the the guy is commanding such a steep price because within the hearts of hearts, he knows that someone from the Microsoft camp might be inquisitive and cough up the amount. Lol.

Cant wait for BUILD and more importantly, the public Beta i would download it, create a seperate  partition and installed Windows 8.

The seller probably made up a dummy account with an fake paypal account.  That’s why he only had 1 feedback.  He pretty much knew Ebay would take his posting off and will probably do an investigation.

And I say…HE…because women wouldn’t do this.  Only guys try to think of these bootleg ways.
