Microsoft has built a visual voicemail feature into Windows Phone Mango.
The software giant hasn’t detailed the feature officially but bloggers at pocketnow.com have managed to activate it fully inside the latest Windows Phone Mango beta. The feature works as you’d expect by allowing Windows Phone users to play their voicemail messages in a visual way. Phone users typically have to dial their voicemail number and use the keypad to access messages. Visual Voicemail will display your voicemail history in a list and allow you to play and pause your messages. Users can also select multiple voicemails to easily delete them.
Visual Voicemail is currently available natively on Apple’s iPhone devices and through third-party applications on Google’s Android devices. The feature allows users to listen to voicemails without having to dial a special voicemail service. Visual Voicemail is particularly useful for seeing who has left you messages and being able to rewind or fast forward them easily.
Visual Voicemail in Windows Phone Mango can be toggled with an on/off switch in the Phone settings of Windows Phone Mango and the feature requires support from your mobile operator.
